Perch

Their perch

A perch is very useful for the cockatiels. You will find below my advice to build one like mine.

You need:

3 bamboo sticks (length : 2 meters), you can find them in shops for garden, they are sold as stakes for plants,
15 tree branches,
raffia,
a basket or whatever container deep (mini : 20 cm) and wide (diam. : 60 cm) enough,
a plastic pot for plants (diam. : 20 cm), smaller than the basket in height,
wire,
stones,
earth or compost.

You make 6 holes in the pot (2 holes for each stick): 3 at the top of the pot, and the other ones 2 or 3 cm under the first ones.

You tie up the pot and the sticks with the wire, through the holes. The sticks must be upright.

Then you put the pot and the sticks in the middle of the basket, and you put stones inside and around the pot, to make it heavy and steady.

You fill up the pot and the basket with earth, and you tie up the branches to the sticks with raffia. You can also add some toys.

That's it!

The best place for the perch is at the opposite of the cage, but in the same room (so that they will have to fly to go from one place to another).
