Food

Of course, cockatiels eat the seeds you can find for them in the shops.

They need water as well (changed everyday), vegetables (salads, cabbages, potatoes, radishes, cucumbers, carrots…) and fruits (apples, bananas, strawberries, raisins…)

But they can also eat with you: everything that is good for you is good for them. You can let them have meat (free cockatiels find proteins in small insects or worms), or even spaghettis, pizzas, and they sometimes end up in the rice salad dish!

However, they should never have coffee (although they like it a lot), fat or sugar, and of course, absolutely never alcohol.

In addition of food, cockatiels need calcium (for example, a cuttlebone), and sometimes vitamins (especially if you notice they are loosing their feathers).

They also love millet sprays or the titbits for cockatiels you can find in shops, and you can give them as a reward if they try to talk.
